Moar Music Plz

July 15th, 2010

I drove back to that same Goodwill I spoke about in a previous entry, and managed to find three more CD’s worth buying:

This sampler has songs from Front Line Assembly, Controlled Bleeding, Delerium, Eden, and more. I knew about 5 of the bands on there, and this seemed like a rare find, so I figured it was more than worth the $2.

I love this group, so this was a no-brainer. Their most popular song was “Dirt”, which is on this album.

One of the sexiest women on Earth. Seriously. And her voice? To die for. Check her out, especially when she sings in Arabic. *melts*

I got some bad news today, though. Seems that if I want to stay in this apartment, I need to pay 60 more dollars a month. YEA. $895 for a mediocre apartment that’s right next to a FUCKING SWAMP. They can call it a “nature reserve” all they want, but if it smells like a swamp and it looks like a swamp… So Audi, who has at long last decided he wants to stay with me, is now going to work with me so we can decide whether or not we want to fork over $895 a month for the next year… OR find a new apartment in a better neighborhood and pay the same price or similar. Decisions, decisions.

Around 7:00, he asked me if I wanted to go to Home Depot with him, and I said sure. He and I hadn’t gone out anywhere together for a while. So, I took the opportunity, even if it was just to Home Depot. XD. After we finished there, I asked him if he wanted to go out for dinner. He was all for it, and asked what I was in the mood for. After some discussing and deliberating, we agreed on Outback Steakhouse. I figured this would be a good way to help lift his spirits: by giving him food he loves. Haha. Dinner was pretty normal, and after we got back home, I got on the PS3 and started playing Playstation Home. LOL ADDICTED. Right now, he’s on the PS3 playing Naruto: Ninja Storm. Haha. An 8 year old trapped in a 30-year-old body. XD

Anyway, I am off to get some rest. Ciao!

An epic music day…

July 7th, 2010

So it seems today was certainly the right day to go to Goodwill. Luckily for me, there is a big one right by my job. I dropped by primarily to find some new (so to speak) jeans. Thankfully, I did; I found two pairs that seemed like they had been custom made for me. Woot! But the added bonus to these finds was, as the title suggests, the music I found.

Before I get to those, though, my 3rd book cover has finally been made public. You can see it here on Amazon.com. I’m so excited to have my name on another book cover, and am so grateful to both Random House and Amelia Atwater-Rhodes. It gives me such a feeling of accomplishment to see my art on display. Which reminds me, I hope Random House sends me a copy of the book like they did the last two times. *crosses fingers* Teehee.

Anyway, here’s the CDs I bought today at Goodwill for $2 each:

Ah, yes… one of my fave down and dirty industrial bands. I also found a MLWTTK single, but I decided to buy this EP instead.

Yep, found two albums from The Church. I just couldn’t pass them up. They were in brand new condition, practically. The wonderful employees at Goodwill even managed to put a piece of electrical tape on the case so that no one could steal the CD and leave the case behind. LOL.

I absolutely LOVELOVELOVE Roxette. They may not be in my top 10 bands usually, but they’re definitely up there. Every song they made is a hit. Every last one.

This one now marks my second album from Jesus and Mary Chain. I’m not a huge fan, but I knew I couldn’t pass up buying it.

This one was brand new; still in its original store plastic wrapping. Yea. This one was a no-brainer. This marks my third album from Gravity Kills.

Mwahaha. Yes yes yes. I couldn’t believe when I found this, and am glad I am still adding to my ever expanding Depeche Mode collection. And just for the record, this is now the 10th album I own from Depeche Mode.

I’m not a huge AC/DC fan, but the bands that were chosen to cover their songs made this a worthwhile purchase: Electric Hellfire Club, Die Krupps, Spahn Ranch, Pigface, Razed in Black, Sister Machine Gun, 16 Volt, and more.

I might just go back next week and see if I can find some more CDs. Hehe.

No sleep for the wicked…

August 31st, 2009

Yep. My man and I are still awake. It seems the Sandman decided to take a vacation to Aruba tonight. But at least we’re in the same room so we can chit-chat, as opposed to him being in his studio and me being in the bedroom. LOL. He’s on his laptop looking up info on music gear.

I’ve been on a search for new music lately, particularly techno and some industrial. I’m madly in love with this one remix of The Prodigy’s “Girls” track, and several remixes of Lady Gaga’s “LoveGame”. For a long while I avoided Lady Gaga like the black plague, but dammit, she has me hooked! I love that she’s bringing techno back in a big way. She’s kind of like Peaches, only a little more attractive. HAHA.

I’m very excited for this Saturday. I’m going to see Depeche Mode live in Ft. Lauderdale with my best friend Chris. Unfortunately, Audi isn’t going, and that’s mainly because I bought the tickets when he and I weren’t together. *shrug* But, I know I will still have an awesome time. =)

My family that lives in West Palm Beach drove down to my parents’ house yesterday, and they were kind enough to bring the rest of my stuff up to their house. Sooo, I don’t need to drive for two hours to Miami! I can just drive the 20 minutes to my aunt’s house and pick up my stuff there. Woot! Hence, since I don’t have to drive down to Miami anymore, I’m going to be taking the train down to my parents’ house on Saturday. Chris will be driving us to the show.

And as a final note, I would like to give a shoutout to an old friend and her two spectacular sites, UglyArt.Net & UglyArtDotNet.Etsy.Com. If you like the unique and bizarre, you will love her stuff.

5-Star Albums.

August 25th, 2009

Since my hubby wants to keep working on his computer rather than go to bed, I decided I would work on my computer, too. I was actually planning to make a post like this for a few days. I was listening to my iPhone on the way back to my apartment and I realized that I have a number of albums where I love every single track. You know, where every single song is a favorite song? Well, I’d like to feature some of these amazing albums:

Live – Secret Samadhi

This is one of those albums that just blew my mind when I first heard it. I originally bought it just for Lakini’s Juice. I was pleasantly surprised with how good every other song was. This album prompted me to buy their earlier stuff, as well. It’s much more raw and dark than their earlier work, and that’s what really grabbed me. I especially love how you get a little bit of everything: the heavy, the operatic, the slow, the darkly romantic, and even the apocalyptic.

The Start – Shakedown!

This album is bright, fun, and energetic. It helps that Aimee’s voice is so unique. Coupled with the interesting beats and riffs, this is a great “pick-me-up” album. Even the songs with melancholy lyrics have a way of bringing a smile to your face.

Asia – Asia

A band that I don’t think gets the credit it truly deserves, Asia will always have a special place in my heart. This album is so good, I own it on both CD and LP. Most people who know music from the 80s’ would know the song “Heat of the Moment”, but the rest of this album is certainly worth your time and effort.

InnerPartySystem – InnerPartySystem

I have to thank one of my college professors, Carlos, for introducing me to this band. One day, he comes up to me and asks me if I’ve heard of InnerPartySystem. I said I hadn’t. He smiled, and proceeded to play their music video for “Don’t Stop” on the projection screen. One listen, and I was instantly hooked.

The Last Shadow Puppets – The Age of the Understatement

One of the many albums I learned about from a forum I frequent. I saw a suggestion for their “Standing Next to Me” music video, and followed the Youtube link to an instant love and adoration. Their Beatles style of fashion along with their fresh, captivating sound make this band a classic in my eyes.

Depeche Mode – Violator

To anyone who knows this album, this is a no-brainer. This, to me, is one of DM’s most classic and well known albums. It never ceases to amaze how ageless the songs on this album are. I feel almost honored that I’m going to see them live in September.

KMFDM – NIHIL

I was hard pressed to find a KMFDM album that I DIDN’T love, but this one beat out the rest. This album never fails to satisfy my need for kick-ass, balls to the wall, industrial madness.

Pat Benatar – Tropico

I adore and worship this woman. So much so that I own every single one of her albums on CD and nearly all of them on LP. I’ve seen her live three times. And as much as every album has it’s story for me, this one took the gold. Not only because it has my favorite song of all time, “Painted Desert”, but because every other song on the album matches its quality beautifully.

Nine Inch Nails – The Downward Spiral

A classic album that I’m sure most people would agree was Trent Reznor’s best. I own three copies of this album: one from an ex, one from an old “friend”, and one I bought myself. I still own all three. Enough said.

Dir En Grey – Withering to Death

I’ve been a fan of Dir En Grey since high school, but when this album came out, I lost my shit. I couldn’t believe that this killer metal sound was coming from a band that used to do Visual Kei style music. One of best albums from a Japanese metal band, by far.

Kamelot – The Black Halo

I don’t particularly listen to a lot of metal, but this particular album is perfection through and through. The absolute best track on this one is definitely “Memento Mori”, but the rest of the album holds it’s own just fine.

Duran Duran – The Wedding Album

Another band I worship, and this album certainly helped make me a believer. Duran Duran has always been an amazing band, but this particular album, to me, showed the world that they could stay just as relevant and powerful in the 90s’ as well.

Roxette – Look Sharp!

For my last album in the list, Roxette’s “Look Sharp” was one of the those albums that caught me totally by surprise. I bought this album for two dollars in a CD Exchange store thinking that “Listen to Your Heart” was going to be the only good song on it. How wrong I was!

So there you have it. I hope that I have inspired some of you to go check one or two of these out, or hopefully all of them! :)

The final stretch.

March 4th, 2009

I’ve finished the work on time. The frames are ready, the DVD’s have been burned, and the final price for the installation and removal of the work has been set. All I need to do now is finalize with the carpenters when they’ll be able to install the work. They wanted to start tomorrow, but I don’t think that will be possible. The gallery already told us we only had the last week before the show to install our work. I am meeting up with them tomorrow, though, so it will all be worked out.

My goodness, I can’t believe it’s almost here. So much planning and working and rethinking and working and… *sigh* I can’t wait for the 14th now. Even more than that, I can’t wait for the trip to New York! I’m so glad I bought the Rebel because now I can take a lot of awesome photos.

It’s interesting. A few weeks ago, I finally bit the bullet and told my mother that Audi and I weren’t together anymore, months after we’d broken up. She asked me how I was feeling and I said I was fine. I told her I was just too busy to cry about it. Tonight, as I was driving home from the computer lab at school, I was listening to “Missing” by Everything But the Girl in the car… and I started crying a little. I was thinking of Audi, and I realized… I’m not too busy to cry about it now.

Meh. I’ll leave it at that. Ciao.

An epic case of blah.

February 10th, 2009

I have nothing of interest or value to say, really. I’ve been feeling pretty blah today, more so than usual. I miss Audi like crazy, I’m worried about the BFA show, I’m emotionally and mentally drained… basically, BLAH.

I’m going to get cracking on those BFA videos again tonight. I also need to contact or visit the gallery space where the show is going to be, CIFO, and find out what kind of monitors they have available. That way, I can build and/or buy the necessary tools and supplies to make the frames.

I recently “discovered” this music production company called Immediate Music. They make some incredibly amazing songs, especially their collection of epic and orchestral/choir songs. I sent in a request to become a member, but they haven’t contacted me back yet. =/

Anyway, I suppose I’m done. Oh, and have I mentioned I miss Audi?

Random tidbits.

January 21st, 2009

I miss Audi! I wish he was here to hold me and keep me warm. =( It may be a long while before I can see him again. I’m going to be really busy with school, and he’s going to be stuck in Tequesta for some time. Hopefully, though, next month I’ll be able to

I was running out of space on my computer’s main drive,  so I decided to move all my important documents (artwork, music, photos, etc…) to my 500gb external drive. That way, should anything happen to my computer, my most important stuff is safely locked away. The best thing about the case I bought for the external drive is that it has a built-in fan. I can leave it on for hours (within reason) and it won’t overheat.

My friend Sam from school is hopefully going to hook me up tomorrow with a copy of Adobe After Effects for the PC, so that I can work on my BFA videos at home. I’m also planning on buying some green sheet tomorrow to make my own green screen at home. If I manage to accomplish these two things tomorrow, I’ll be totally on track for the review on the 30th. I had spoken to my Senior Project professor, and he said that if I had one video and stills of the other two, I’d be set.

I’ve been thinking of doing a new website design, one that doesn’t incorporate an iframe. Not that I care either way, but the more I think about it, the less professional an iframe seems. We’ll see. It will likely have to wait until February, since making a new layout will be rather time-consuming.

American Idol recently started their new season. I absolutely LOVE this show, especially the auditions. It’s one of the most entertaining series of train wrecks ever. The amount of people who come to audition and obviously can’t sing to save their lives boggles me. The only possible reasons I can imagine: 1) they just want their 15 minutes of fame, or 2) they ACTUALLY think they can sing. The best ones are the talentless hacks who get mad after they get four NO’s.

I can’t think of anything else to talk about so… later.
