Just another manic weekend…

July 27th, 2010

Oh me, oh my… It has been one CRAZZZZYYY weekend! Let’s begin, shall we?

On Wednesday of last week, I found out it was going to cost another $300 to fix the new issue with my T-Bird. This was after I had the car towed from a friend’s house to my apartment, and then from my apartment to the mechanics. I was fed UP. I resolved at that moment that I wasn’t going to spend another dime on that possessed demon car. I needed to get a new car. What made the situation even more crazy was that Audi’s car was too low (too close to the ground), and with me in it, it only got worse. Thankfully, our friends who own a Trailblazer were out of town on a business trip, and they let us use their car while I got my own car problem solved. That helped immensely. Finally, Audi had no trouble driving me to work Thursday and Friday.

Here comes Saturday. We woke up pretty early, and I was ready to go car shopping. I had already noted a car I’d seen the night before on carmax.com. It was this GORGEOUS 2009 Chevy Cobalt in silver. I just knew from the moment I saw it that I wanted it. So on that morning, we called up Carmax in Boynton Beach, and asked about it. I’m going to condense the next part for you all: We were calling each other back and forth for nearly 8 HOURS. Audi had already driven to Carmax to meet up with the man I had spoken to on the phone, and to reassure him that I was on the way. When I finally made it to Boynton Beach to see and possibly buy the car, it was already 7:00pm. I was mentally and physically exhausted. But no… my night was nowhere near finished.

The paperwork that followed after my arrival took nearly 3 hours to finish. By this point, I was ready for some liquor… that or a very powerful sedative. Audi said I looked like I was about to go into a panic attack: I was nervous, twitching, and freaking out. LOL. And for damn good reason! I never realized buying a new car would be this nerve-wracking! But thankfully, the man who worked with us at Carmax was a fucking SAINT. Seriously, I never thought I’d meet a car salesman like that in my life. He was sweet, funny, and one of the most patient people ever. He stuck with us until I finally drove home in my new car at 10:30pm. Haha.

The next day came with the hassle of finishing up the insurance paperwork. I also needed to have my mother sign a power-of-attorney form so that she could sign the T-Bird over to me (the car was in her name) so that I could sell it to Carmax. Early Sunday morning, I drove all the way down to Miami (in my new car, teehee!), and after we finished doing everything we could (which wasn’t much, sadly), I hung out with my family. My nephew and brother were there, as well. Around 12:00pm, I started driving back home, but I had a few stops to make first. I needed to drop off the completed paperwork at Carmax, and then from there, I wanted to pass by my cousin’s house. Finally, around 6:00pm, I made it home.

So it’s been a bumpy road, but finally… FINALLY, I can rid myself of that damn car. No more memories, no more troubles, no more. Period. I can start anew with a new car, and in the process, continue breaking away from parts of my life that I don’t want to be reminded of anymore.

I’m gonna go get some shuteye now. Ciao!

One of those days.

April 22nd, 2010

Yes, today was one of those days. You know, the kind of day that is just endless excitement, chaos, and hilarity from morning to night? Yea, the kind of day where you’ve facepalmed yourself so much you might just end up unconscious.

Busy weekend ahead.

April 22nd, 2010

Yes, indeed-y. I’m gonna be busy, busy, busy. After work tomorrow, I’m going to my goddaughter’s soccer game, and from there I’ll be driving down to Miami. I have another doctor’s appointment Friday morning, and my doctor now has the new ultrasound scans from the hospital. Hopefully, tomorrow, I’ll find out if there actually has been any drastic change in the size of the massive fibrous mass in my left boob. I swear, I think that thing gets bigger every day. It’s the size of a ping pong ball now. =( Meh.

I’m going to be staying in Miami for the weekend, so I can spend some time with my family and friends. I haven’t seen some of my friends in almost 4/5 months, so it will be nice to hang out with them again. I’ve so far got plans for Saturday afternoon, and possibly Friday night. However, sprinkled in between, I’ll likely be doing stuff for my job, since there is still a lot of catching up to do. Now that Paul has left Statements to pursue other ventures, we have to buckle down and get shit done until Jon finds a replacement for him. Fun! *sigh*

On a lighter note, the newest Bleach chapter is UH-MAZING. I frickin’ called what would happen, too, which is always such a gratifying feeling. Oh, and the Bleach episodes are finally back onto the canon storyline from the manga. However, they’re taking their sweet, precious time getting to one of the greatest fights in Bleach history: Ichigo vs. Ulquiorra. WOOO! I’m SO stoked. :D

Anyway, it’s time to start packing my bags for the weekend and start getting ready for bed. Ciao!

Good news keeps comin’ in…

March 2nd, 2010

So I was contacted by Random House Australia, and they’re going to be printing Amelia Atwater-Rhodes’ “The Shapeshifters” in Australia/New Zealand. They want to use my work “Dirige” for their covers as well! :D Hooray!! I’m so happy and excited.

I called the art gallery/business I visited last week, and it seems they still haven’t filled the position. So, here’s to hoping they call me up! *crosses fingers* I’m still looking around at other potential jobs, since I don’t want to hang all my hopes on just one location.

On Sunday, I went down to Miami to spend some time with my parents and my best friend Chris. Sunday night we went to the movies to see ‘Shutter Island’. It was pretty intense. It’s the kind of movie that you need a really strong stomach to watch. I don’t mean in the sense of gore or bloodshed, but some of the subject matter is just… wow… like a punch in the face. I thought it was really great, though. The story was definitely unique and gripping. Now, I’m even more interested in buying the novel it was based on to see what might have been edited in the film.

Right now, the hubby is over at our friend’s house helping her out, since she is very pregnant and has a busted ankle. I would have gone with him, but I just wanted to enjoy being home today. I’ll be going over there tomorrow.

Anyway, I must continue my commission work. Ciao!

Choo-choo train

October 5th, 2009

So here I am, on the choo-choo train heading down to Miami… and I really REALLY wish I wasn’t. But, we must all go through trials and tribulations in this life. I am really hoping and praying that the server situation is resolved, so that I don’t have to go back to Miami ANYMORE!! *sigh*

We got the TV in the mail today and it is pretty damn amazing. Audi tested out the game graphics by playing a demo of Bioshock (which is a fucking kickass game, btw) and tested the movie graphics with The Ninth Gate, Gladiator, and The Fifth Element. Hehe.

Speaking of The Fifth Element, i need to start putting my costume together. Audi got into a big argument with me over the color of Leeloo’s hair. It’s orange, and he kept saying it’s red. But after he watched the scene with Leeloo on the outside of the building, I pointed out, “Look! It’s fucking orange!” LOL

Anyway, it’s a real pain in the ass typing blogs on this WordPress iPhone app after a while, so I’ll end this entry here.

Ciao.

I now haz teh interwebz…

August 15th, 2009

Yes yes, the 802.11n wireless card I ordered came in today and it works perfectly. I am currently typing this entry on my computer. HUZZAH! I can now become one with the WWW again. Tomorrow… scratch that, later on today, around 12:00pm (if all goes well and I actually wake up on time) I will be driving down to Miami to spend a week with my parents. WHY, you ask? Well, Dustin recently called me and asked me if I would be able to come down to Miami and help him out once again at World Atlantic Airlines. I said, “Hell yes” since no one in their right mind would turn down $20 an hour when money is a little tight. Soooo, I packed up all my “business” attire, some casual clothes, and all the necessary amenities. This money will definitely help me and Audi out. I also asked Dustin if it would be possible for me to continue working for World Atlantic Airlines from home. He said that they are currently working on getting the server all set up. Once it is, he said he’ll work on that the following week. I’m keeping my fingers crossed here, people. If this goes through, I may not have to find a new job in Jupiter after all.

It’s going to be very weird going back to my parents’ house. As much as I know I needed to go back anyway to get the rest of my stuff, I had never intended to spend a week there. But, I suppose it works out, since it will give me time to earn money and time to organize my belongings with some patience.

I recently uploaded a bunch of photos of me and Audi on my Facebook, if anyone is interested: Miranda Adria & Akira Zero

Oh, and my birthday is on August 22nd. I’m turning 26. Hooray for me.

No more artist’s block?

January 5th, 2009

I’ve been working on a new piece for about 5 days now. It’s been driving me nuts, really. I’m hellbent on doing as much work on my own as I can, i.e. using very little photos and painting the piece instead. The only reference I’ve used so far is a stock image from a DA member, mjranum-stock. Other than that, everything was done from scratch. Here is a little preview:

preview1 preview2 preview3 preview4

Mind you, these are not even close to actual size. The whole thing measures 75″x50″ @ 72 dpi, so it’s pretty damn big. The desert is proving to be a bit of a challenge, but it’s certainly easier than I imagined it would be. With enough patience and time, I think it is going to look killer.

In other news, I joined Twitter. Not for any special reason, but I figured… why the hell not? Sort of that, “Everyone else is doing it” thing? Heh. I don’t know how much use it will be for me, though.

My classes start tomorrow. I’m quite bummed since my vacation will officially end, but I’m happy that I’ll get to see all my classmates and friends again. The good thing about this semester is that I only have one class to attend each day. That means, I go to school, have my class, and then I’m free to do whatever the hell I want! This is especially beneficial for me considering I take the bus. I’ve always hated taking the bus from downtown Miami at 9pm, since that area is a BARREN WASTELAND at that hour. Your lucky if you even see a hobo on the corner on some days. It’s a bit intimidating. Why do I take the bus, you ask? If you’ve ever been in downtown Miami, you know that finding parking is ri-DUNK-ulously hard. Even though the school I attend has its own parking areas, it’s just easier to take the bus. I get on, ride for an hour, get off, and voila! No car keys, no worries about the car being stolen, etc…

Well, anyway, back to work play. Ciao, mei amici.
