Just another manic weekend…

July 27th, 2010

Oh me, oh my… It has been one CRAZZZZYYY weekend! Let’s begin, shall we?

On Wednesday of last week, I found out it was going to cost another $300 to fix the new issue with my T-Bird. This was after I had the car towed from a friend’s house to my apartment, and then from my apartment to the mechanics. I was fed UP. I resolved at that moment that I wasn’t going to spend another dime on that possessed demon car. I needed to get a new car. What made the situation even more crazy was that Audi’s car was too low (too close to the ground), and with me in it, it only got worse. Thankfully, our friends who own a Trailblazer were out of town on a business trip, and they let us use their car while I got my own car problem solved. That helped immensely. Finally, Audi had no trouble driving me to work Thursday and Friday.

Here comes Saturday. We woke up pretty early, and I was ready to go car shopping. I had already noted a car I’d seen the night before on carmax.com. It was this GORGEOUS 2009 Chevy Cobalt in silver. I just knew from the moment I saw it that I wanted it. So on that morning, we called up Carmax in Boynton Beach, and asked about it. I’m going to condense the next part for you all: We were calling each other back and forth for nearly 8 HOURS. Audi had already driven to Carmax to meet up with the man I had spoken to on the phone, and to reassure him that I was on the way. When I finally made it to Boynton Beach to see and possibly buy the car, it was already 7:00pm. I was mentally and physically exhausted. But no… my night was nowhere near finished.

The paperwork that followed after my arrival took nearly 3 hours to finish. By this point, I was ready for some liquor… that or a very powerful sedative. Audi said I looked like I was about to go into a panic attack: I was nervous, twitching, and freaking out. LOL. And for damn good reason! I never realized buying a new car would be this nerve-wracking! But thankfully, the man who worked with us at Carmax was a fucking SAINT. Seriously, I never thought I’d meet a car salesman like that in my life. He was sweet, funny, and one of the most patient people ever. He stuck with us until I finally drove home in my new car at 10:30pm. Haha.

The next day came with the hassle of finishing up the insurance paperwork. I also needed to have my mother sign a power-of-attorney form so that she could sign the T-Bird over to me (the car was in her name) so that I could sell it to Carmax. Early Sunday morning, I drove all the way down to Miami (in my new car, teehee!), and after we finished doing everything we could (which wasn’t much, sadly), I hung out with my family. My nephew and brother were there, as well. Around 12:00pm, I started driving back home, but I had a few stops to make first. I needed to drop off the completed paperwork at Carmax, and then from there, I wanted to pass by my cousin’s house. Finally, around 6:00pm, I made it home.

So it’s been a bumpy road, but finally… FINALLY, I can rid myself of that damn car. No more memories, no more troubles, no more. Period. I can start anew with a new car, and in the process, continue breaking away from parts of my life that I don’t want to be reminded of anymore.

I’m gonna go get some shuteye now. Ciao!

About my weekend, and then some…

July 19th, 2010

I got so wrapped up in my rant about the movie “2012″, I completely forgot I was supposed to talk about my weekend. Hmm. So, here it is. My weekend in a nutshell (somewhat), and then I will continue with what has happened most recently.

On Saturday, Audi dropped me off at my cousin’s house to spend some time with the family. My mom and dad had come up from Miami. We all cut a cake and celebrated my two goddaughter’s birthdays (since the dates are so close and they actually LIKE having their parties together), and then we all gathered together for a very fun, very enjoyable game of Charades for Dummies. Yes, yes… apparently we are dummies, because some of us sucked at acting out the clues. We kept bugging my mom because she couldn’t figure out how many syllables were in each word. LOL.

After hanging out there for a while, I took the train down to Miami with my parents, and the night was pretty standard. I watched TV, ate dinner with them, and just hung out in what was once my bedroom and is now… an office/sewing room/spare bedroom. LOL.

Then, the next morning was the baptism. My best friend Chris has a few brothers; the eldest one, Brian, and his wife, Janine, were baptizing their baby girl Isabella. The baptism and mass were held in Chris’ church, which was a very… interesting experience. I’ll just say I much prefer Catholic masses; Latin hymns and ceremonial garbs evoke a lot more emotion in me than sitting in a church/lounge with a live band playing in the back. *shrug*

After that, I went shopping with my mom. I bought a bunch of earrings, and some cute shirts for work. While we were in Spencers’ she FINALLY commented on my new piercings. LOL. She asked me, “So when did you get those done?” I tell her, “Last Tuesday.” She just rolled her eyes… and that’s it! Haha. My other family members were telling me, “Oh she’s gonna flip out.” Well… hooray to my mom for proving them wrong. Later on in the evening, my parents drove me to the train station, and I was on my way home.

Now, on to what has been happening recently.

I give up on my car. It has been a downhill battle for years with me constantly on the losing side. Recently, its newest problem is the water pump; broken to the point where the car is once again, practically undrivable. After a few two truck trips and an estimate from my usual mechanics, I decided I am not going to fix the car anymore. I refuse to put any more money into that rotten lemon of a car. SO, instead, I’m looking into getting myself a new car. I’m hoping to do some car shopping this weekend with the hubby.

Just getting around everywhere has been a hassle. Audi’s car is too low, so with me in the car, it scrapes the pavement all the time. Hence, him driving me to work in his Miata was almost impossible. Fortunately for us, our friends that live near us offered us their SUV while they were away on a business trip. So, we have a mode of reliable transportation until I get a new car. Hopefully, I can get a new one by Sunday afternoon.

Anyway, that’s what’s been going on. I’m tired; I’m gonna try to catch some Z’s, Ciao!

When it rains (again)…

June 29th, 2010

As if things couldn’t be more fucking hectic and frantic and crazy and every other synonym I could think of, now I need to spend another $700 on my car to fix it. I understand what needs to be fixed and they are things that desperately need to be fixed. But shit, why now when our lease is almost up and the hubby still hasn’t decided what the hell he wants to do; renew the lease or put our things in storage and have us move in with relatives until we move out of Florida? What the hell, man… Now, when I finally have a job that seems stable and is paying me good money, he wants to leave. What. The. HELL. I’m so close to telling him, “I’m renewing the lease, you’re welcome to stay here with me if you like…” It’s not fair to me that now I’m bringing in the bulk of our income and he wants to hightail it out of Florida. One more year wouldn’t kill him, and it would give us time to save up money and move out next year! And not just move out to some shithole, but get us an actual house for cheap (because really, anywhere is cheaper than Florida LOL).

On a lighter note, I went out Saturday night to Ft. Lauderdale to see my ex-boyfriend Eddy’s band Dissever play at the Monterey Club. I was originally going to go with my next door neighbor, but she bailed on me. And of course, Audi the homebody didn’t want to go out anywhere. So, I ended up going by myself. And I am quite glad I did. I got to meet up with Eddy (whom I hadn’t seen in years) and it felt great to re-connect with him, since I’ve known him for almost 10 years. I even bought a Dissever t-shirt and was offered a micro-brewed beer by Dissever’s manager. Sweet.

Right now, I’m on my lunch break, taking the time to write in my blog since it seems I never have time to do so anymore… except when I have something to bitch about. Oh, snap. I guess this is one of those times, eh?

Oh, but I do have some more good news. I don’t believe I’ve mentioned this in my blog, but one of my artworks was chosen to be printed in Ballistic Publishing‘s upcoming book Exposé. This is a very big deal; this book is one of the biggest digital art books in the world, and is seen by big name artists, companies, producers, etc etc. Here’s to hoping this publication will get me some much needed attention.

Anyway, back to work now. Still have a lot of stuff to finish today. Yay. Ciao!

Getting better…

March 26th, 2010

Things have been looking up lately, especially financially. It feels really nice to have some expendable income now, along with the funds to pay for the important stuff. I’m so grateful for this job. Not many people can say that they get paid to do something they really love. ;D

I am really hoping that my car is fixed by tomorrow. The guy at the auto shop said that it would cost about $300 to fix. Seems the cause of the car’s over-acceleration and very high idle was the vacuum regulator, or something along those lines. *shrug* Either way, I am praying and hoping that this is the solution to my problem, and that I won’t have to worry about car problems for the next… month. Heh.

Tomorrow my cousin is coming to pick me up so I can spend some time with the family, specifically my godchildren. I’m also hoping that my cousin and I can go shopping, but that might not be so plausible. We’ll see.

Anyway, that’s about it for now. Ciao.

Wooooooohooooooo!!

March 5th, 2010

I got the job, ladies and gents! Yippee! Today was my first day of work, and I gotta tell ya, it was pretty damn sweet. The job is basically this: Photograph the abstract metal art pieces and sculptures, edit the photos so that they look spectacular, and prepare the eBay listings for them. The main goal that the studio is aiming for is to make the images look as close as possible to how the pieces look in real life. A lot of times, people will see the images and think that it has blue or orange when it really doesn’t; it’s simply a light reflecting the wrong color onto the piece. My job is to correct old images and take new photos with the correct lighting and camera settings for the best final result. I spent the majority of the day taking photos, which is like heaven for me, since I love doing that anyway!

One of the nicest things about the job is that I get paid on Tuesdays. That means next week on Tuesday, I’ll be getting my first paycheck, which is so desperately needed right now, even if it will only be about $240 for Friday, Monday, and Tuesday. I work 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, 9 to 5. I’m so excited! Hopefully now, with the money coming in from the two book covers, and this job, I can finally fix my DAMN CAR! LOL. Until then, my wonderful hubby Audi is driving me to and from work.

Tomorrow, my parents are coming up to visit my family in West Palm Beach, and Audi is gonna drive me over there so I can spend some time with all of them. Later on in the evening, I’m going to the movies with the neighbors to see Alice in Wonderland in 3D. Audi’s really not in the mood to see it, but he said that if I wanted to go with them, that it would be cool. Heh. What a party pooper! ;D

Anyway, that’s pretty much it for now. Still waiting for a final confirmation from Random House, and planning on enjoying my weekend before *giggle* going back to work on Monday! XD

Ciao!

One hell of a day…

September 20th, 2009

Today (well, technically it would be yesterday since I’m writing this at three in the morning) was just one of those that went from bad to just plain shit. I was seriously debating whether or not to actually go out and do something, just so that I wouldn’t be at home all day. I finally decided I’d go out to the mall. *shrug* So I head out, get there, walk around, buy nothing and decide I don’t want to go home just yet. I drive across the street, go to some more stores. As I’m exiting the Best Buy, I say to myself, “I’m just gonna go home. I’m tired of being out.”

I get to my car, turn the engine… and nothing. It grinds for about two seconds, and then NOTHING. No lights, no sounds, no indication that this car is alive in any way. I immediately know what the problem is. One of the clamps on my car battery is slightly cracked, so I figured the problem was that there was no power going to the engine. I ended up having to call a towing company to take my car back to my apartment. >_< Thankfully, since my insurance covers towing for up to 50 bucks, it ended up being free. AND the tow truck guy was actually really nice, efficient, and knowledgeable. He knew exactly where my address was and after taking only 10 minutes to get to me, I was home within 20 minutes of calling my insurance company. However, now I have the joy of having to fix my car. There’s no point in trying to find a job if I have no car to get me there! More money that needs to be wasted on that piece of shit. UGH.

Well, after I got home, my neighbor asked what happened (it’s not that easy to hide the sight of a huge tow truck, apparently). I explain to her what happened, and we got to talking. I told her that I was basically home alone for the weekend. She invited to hang out with her and her boyfriend if I wanted some company. So, after I made myself a sandwich (in my kitchen, of course), and checked my email/messages, I headed over. I played some Call of Duty 4, we watched TV, I had two beers, etc etc… It was nice to have someone to chill with. I’ve been pretty lonely for the last few days. =/ I’m such a wimp. LOL.

Anyway, Audi is coming back home tomorrow and I am VERY happy about that. ^_^ Hooray! I get to see my hubby again! *dances*

And now, I am off to bed. I hope. Ciao!

You know I love you, but you might be the death of me…

February 6th, 2009

You know i love you, but you might be the death of me
Hold me down, suffocating, please let me breathe
Kiss kiss, lights out, i’ve got to, we’ve got to,
You know i loved you but you’re gonna be the death of me…

- InnerPartySystem – “New Poetry”

InnerPartySystem, where would I be without thee? Your words and melodies are helping to make these days of heartache a little more tolerable. Behind the smiles I present to the world lies a heart dying for answers. You may not be providing them, but you’re helping anyway…

I am SO fucking happy it’s Friday. Finally a night where I don’t have to worry about turning anything in the next day. I can concentrate on my BFA this weekend, I’m gonna hang out with my friends, I’m gonna SLEEP IN, and hopefully… do a little shopping. I’ve been wanting to go shopping for a while. =)

I got my car back yesterday. In total, the repairs came out to $720. It sounds pricey, but if it means I won’t have to hear my car squeak or make weird noises again, it’s worth it. I also got a new (relatively new, anyway) front fender, and it looks amazing. I had gotten into an accident a few years back, and it had been broken since. The only thing I have left to do is give the car a paint job and fix the dents I have one side.

I’ve been thinking of buying an iPhone. I see Audi with his all the time, and it just looks like it kicks so much ass. Plus, the camera on it is pretty good. Not that it would ever take the place of a D-SLR, but…yea.

Two days ago, my classmate Sam gave me two packs of Magic the Gathering cards he had gotten in the mail some time ago. Thankfully, they were both colors that I play frequently: black and green. I’m going to be reshuffling and rebuilding my decks for tomorrow, so that my friends enemies will be surprised. Mwahaha. 0_o

Anyway, back to relaxing. Ciao.
