I love how racists and bigots love to tell folks who criticize white people for all the fucked up, racist, bigoted things they do, and have done, that they are “part of the problem”.
Because complaining about racism is somehow exactly like actually being racist.
I think the problem is that a lot of people assume that because white people of previous generations were racist, that my generation is also automatically racist for being born white. Fact is, I have no control over the colour of my skin or the culture I was born into.
There’s a very good reason why I said “white people” and not “some white people”. That was your opportunity to be introspective and think to yourself, “Hmm, am I guilty of being racist or bigoted?”
Instead, you decided to play the “we’re not all like that” game and care more about how my comment made you look as opposed to how racism makes PoC feel.
Not to mention that your comment added absolutely n.o.t.h.i.n.g. to my original point. What the fuck does you not having control over your skin or culture have to do with the hypocrisy of racists and bigots?
