pole dancing was made. to. be. sexual. and is sexual and and a very important thing for strippers and other sex workers and they should be respected for it but pls don't say that it's not sexual bc it is supposed to be and is how they make a living:)
when I said ‘this is not sexual at all’ i was referring the particular gif on which i was commenting, in which it was being performed in a non-sexual context. And yes, pole dancing was originally made for sexual purposes, but I think people need to realise that pole dancing has evolved to be not only found in strip clubs and other sexual contexts, but in sporting contexts. Heck, there are even international pole dancing competitions, which are treated like gymnastics events. And when I say I respect all people who can pull a feat like pole dancing off, I mean ALL people, INCLUDING STRIPPERS. Heck what they do is bloody impressive, performing, balancing, dancing in 8 inch heels. In my mind they deserve just as much respect for pole dancing as those who do it for sport. BUT NOT ALL POLE DANCING IS SEXUAL. And I think that people who look down on people who do pole dancing in non sexual contexts and who sexualise these people when they don’t wish to be sexualised, need to learn some respect.
I love this so much. Just this shot shows a lot about his character, and only in the first few seconds we get to meet him. Look. Look at him. He just killed someone and he’s still so fucking gentle, ok look.
I fucking hate the people who feel the need to shit on Good games by saying they’re misogynistic when they’re clearly not.
With all the strong female characters in Bioware’s games, they say that Mass Effect is misogynistic because the asari were designed to look appealing.
God Forbid Bioware…
A few (read: many) good points in its favor doesn’t automatically negate the other GLARING issues the series has.
Not to mention that in my very long gaming experience, the harshest critics of a video game are usually it’s biggest fans. We critique because we set high standards for games and production companies we respect, and therefore, will speak our minds when said games/companies fail to reach those expectations.
The fact of the matter is, ME has fucking problems up the ass. Are they enough to tarnish the series? No, because I’ve been addicted to the series for months and still find enjoyment playing it.
But I still critique it. It could be improved. More than the previous 2, ME3 was clearly rushed and not properly planned. The entire game ignores established canon from the previous 2 games and from the other ME informational texts, for example.
And have we forgotten that Femshep’s finally established canon look was put off until the THIRD GODDAMN game and THEN was decided by the video game equivalent of a beauty contest that was voted on by fans???? Because apparently, no one in either Bioware or EA had enough imagination to decide on a canon look for her without fan intervention????
The ME series as a whole is not misogynistic, but it still has misogynistic elements.
I think this year has been one of those years where people eyes are REALLY starting to open their eyes towards racism. Especially towards black people. I think it could be a good thing, finally having some kind of movement in society to how they really view black people without sugar coating it
social justice stuff you see on tumblr is nothing new; these ideas and terminology have been around in activist circles for years. You’re only just finding out about them now because they’ve been brought into the mainstream of a website most of you frequent.
I don’t like calling it “social justice stuff” because let’s be real, that’s what trolls and MRAs call it. It really should just be called “reality”.
I’m so furious I’m SO FURIOUS because I really wanted to believe that natalia kills, whose music is about the power in being a girl and not a good girl and not a girl who…
I think skinny girls get shamed just as much as fat girls do. Natalia Kills is fat shaming to an extent, i think, but she’s more standing up for the girls who, you know, arent fat. The girls who get told that they need more meat on their bones before a man would want to date them. That their ass is too bony, like its something they can control. Some girls are just naturally thin. But women who are voluptuous or just over weight will shame them for being skinny. But while someone will say its not right to fat shame, its alright to thin shame.
Its fucking not right. I don’t really think Natalia Kills is going about it the right way, but I dont think she’s wrong.
Women being shamed for being thin are looking up to Natalia. They need someone to tell them its perfectly alright to be skinny, that no, you don’t need some sexy Beyonce body to be beautiful.
I am not skinny. I am not defending Natalia Kill’s words an actions because she’s defending me.
I am 250 pounds, and I understand what she is defending. You all need to too.
No. We absolutely fucking don’t. Just because you are personally clueless on what actual goddamn reality is does not make anything Natalia Kills said accurate. Skinny women do NOT, in ANY way, get the same level of harrassment and hatred as fat women do.
If a skinny woman wants validation that her body type is the ideal, all she has to do is look the fuck around. Simple as that.
